At that time two unknown persons came in a motorcycle and snatched the gold chain from her neck and ran away with their motorcycle. The value of the property is Rs. 16,500/.

Gambling Raid: Five Arrested, Rs 9,382/ seized

On 22/01/2009 at 1730 hrs PSI Bantwal Rural along with his staff on credible information conducted raid at Kademajalu Devasyapadoor village Bantwal Taluk. At the time of raid Police found 07 persons playing “Ander - Bahar” with cards. The Police seized cash Rs. 9,382/, 3 Nokia Mobile phones, a maruthi car, Kinetic Honda scooter and playing cards from the spot by arresting Lokanatha Bangera (49), Neelayya @ Dinesh Poojary (35), Abdul Razak (32), Avil D’Souza and Ashraf (32) who were indulging in gambling. However other accused Munna @ Melwin Pinto (36) and Udaya Poojary managed to escape from the scene. The total value of seized property is Rs.84, 382/.

In this connection, a case has been registered against the arrested persons in Bantwal Rural PS U/s 87 of the Karnataka Police Act.

As a result motorcycle rider Sandeep R/o Vaidyanath Nagar Pachanady Mangalore sustained serious injuries. Further Sandeep succumbed to his injuries while on the way to hospital.

• A case of Fatal Road accident has been registered in Bantwal Town Police Station. On 20/01/2009 at 0800 hrs at Kempugudde Bantwal Town one Laxman driver of bus bearing Reg. No. KA-19-C-1223 drove his vehicle in a rash and negligent manner and dashed against a motorcycle bearing Reg. No. KA-19-K-6435. As a result motorcycle rider Dayananda and Sandeep pillion rider of said motorcycle sustained serious injuries. Further Dayananda succumbed to his injuries while on the way to hospital.

As a result motorcycle rider Bharath and Khasim pillion rider of said motorcycle sustained serious injuries and died on the spot due which lorry driver lost control over his vehicle and dashed against one Umesha a pedestrian and caused him serious injuries. Further Umesha was admitted to Tejashwini hospital at Mangalore where he succumbed to his injuries while under treatment on the same day. The lorry driver escaped from the place without stopping his vehicle.
